All’esterno delle recinzioni delle aree industriali, coperti/nascosti dalla vegetazione, vivono persone e comunità ai margini della società e delle realtà produttive. Portatori spesso di identità culturali “forti”, in base alle provenienze, ma “deboli”sul piano del riconoscimento nelle nostre società, si misurano con un sistema economico in mutamento, in assenza di garanzie e/o protezioni. Le immagini colgono le situazioni di marginalità con scelte peculiari, spesso volutamente ambigue, indeterminate: le “abitazioni” sono riprese avvolte dalla vegetazione, nell’assenza di presenze umane. Lo “schermo” della vegetazione, voluto dai suoi”abitanti-inabitanti” per proteggersi, allontana e separa queste realtà dalla società e dalla stessa morfologia urbana. “Schermo” materiale ma soprattutto, metaforicamente, sociale e culturale. Elemento che, da marginale, nella realtà urbana, diviene centrale nelle immagini e preponderante. [...] Due sono i nuclei fondamentali del lavoro: uno (Inabitanti I) in cui la vegetazione è più presente, attraverso un approccio “esterno”; l’altro (Inabitanti II) in cui prevale l’indagine analitica sulla struttura dei materiali e degli oggetti, con un approccio più ravvicinato. Solo una fotografia è in bianco e nero. Pur essendo contemporanea, rimane senza tempo, non connotata in senso spazio/temporale: un letto in plastica (sarcofago?), emblema di una situazione di degrado e di disfacimento. L’indagine sui luoghi, in rapporto a una realtà complessa e difficile, è comunque e sempre anche sperimentazione sulle potenzialità espressive del proprio mezzo, indagate con estrema lucidità e sguardo critico.

Outside the railings of the industrial areas, covered or hidden by vegetation, live people and communities on the margins of society and productive realities. Often bearers of “strong”cultural identities on the basis of their provenance, but “weak” in the terms of their recognition by our society. They have to measure themselves against a changing economic system, with neither guarantees nor protection. The images capture their marginal situations by curious means. Their “dwellings” are often photographed covered with vegetation, with all human beings absent. The vegetation “screen”, wished by the “inhabitants-disinhabitants”, removes and separates these realities from society and from the urban morphology itself. A material “screen”but above all, metaphorically speaking, a social and cultural one. [...] The work is divided into two fundamental groups. In one (Inabitanti I) the vegetation is more present, through an “external” approach. While in the other (Inabitanti II) there prevails an analytical inquiry into the structure of the materials and the objects, with a closer approach. Only one photograph is in black and white. Though contemporary withthe others, it remains timeless, without spatial or temporal connotations: a plastic bed (or sarcophagus?) is the emblem of a situation of degradation and decay. The investigation into these places and their relationships with a complex and difficult reality, is neverthless also and always an experiment with the potentialities of the artist’s own means, carried out with a critical eye, far distant from excessive formalism.
