Nato a Venezia nel 1967, Giuseppe Tortato ha conseguito la laurea presso il Politecnico di Milano per poi trasferirsi nel paese universitario di Amherst nel Massachusetts; qui collabora con un allievo di Paolo Soleri alla realizzazione di edifici pubblici e privati secondo i principi dell’architettura bioclimatica.
Rientrato a Milano, dopo un paio d’anni di collaborazione con Dante Benini, si è associato allo studio Milano Layout fino a diventarne il co-titolare. Negli ultimi dieci anni è stato l’ideatore dei principali progetti dello studio nell’ambito Real Estate, dedicandosi alla progettazione di nuovi complessi edilizi e della rigenerazione urbana. Nel 2012 fonda lo studio Giuseppe Tortato Architects, nuovo contenitore professionale con cui prosegue l’attività sin qui sviluppata. Filo conduttore del suo approccio progettuale è coniugare la dimensione sperimentale e la sensibilità ambientale con la concretezza professionale: spazi dall’elevato comfort racchiusi in architetture raffinate.Ha realizzato per Beni Stabili il concept del Green Business Hotel di Milano e per GVA Redilco il progetto dell’Hotel Metropole di Parigi, vincitore dell’Hospitality Award 2010. Ha collaborato come docente di progettazione alberghiera con il Polidesign di Milano e La Sapienza di Roma. Con la realizzazione del progetto della Forgiatura a Milano si è imposto all’attenzione nazionale e internazionale. È stato l’unico italiano selezionato tra 40 candidati all’Energy Performance + Architecture Award 2013.
Nel 2015 saranno completati due nuovi interventi fortemente iconici: la nuova sede futuristica della società Ab Medica lungo l’autostrada A8 e il progetto residenziale Verdemare, che sta trasformando lo skyline di Trieste. Da poco in cantiere nuove realizzazioni nel settore residenziale e del retail in Svizzera e in Cina.
Born in Venice in 1967, Giuseppe Tortato graduated from the Milan Polytechnic and then moved to the university town of Amherst in Massachusetts; there he worked with a student of Paolo Soleri, creating public and private buildings according to the principles of bioclimatic architecture.
After returning to Milan and working with Dante Benini for a couple of years, he joined the Milano Layout studio; in the end, he would become its co-owner. Over the past ten years he has been the mastermind behindthe main real estate projects at his architectural firm, focusing on designing new building complexes and planning urban regeneration. In 2012, he founded Giuseppe Tortato Architects, a new company that continues to develop along the original lines.
The underlying theme of his design approach is to combine experimentation with sensitivity to the environment and professional consistency: highly comfortable spaces in sophisticated architectural designs.
For Beni Stabili, he designed the concept of the Green Business Hotel in Milan and for GVA Redilco, the project for the Hôtel Métropole Opéra in Paris, winner of the Hospitality Award 2010.
He has worked as a lecturer in hotel design with the Politecnico in Milan and La Sapienza University in Rome. The Forgiatura project in Milan has brought him national and international attention. He was the only Italianselected from 40 candidates for the Energy Performance Architecture Award 2013.
In 2015 two very iconic new projects will be completed: the new futuristic company headquarters for Ab Medica on the A8 highway and the Verdemare housing project that is transforming the skyline of Trieste. Shortly, he will be working on new residential and retail projects in Switzerland and China.
