Quante esperienze con il salone del libro di Torino! Scrivere, scoprire, imparare e leggere con uno scrit- tore: questo è “Adotta uno scrittore”. La classe 2B della scuola Internazionale Europea Statale Alt- iero Spinelli ha aderito, come molti altri istituti piemontesi, al progetto offerto dal salone del libro di Torino “adotta uno scrit- tore”. Abbiamo adottato Mauro Covacich, uno scrittore triestino, che, dopo i vari incontri nella nostra scuola, abbiamo rivisto al Salone del Libro. Un incontro emozionante con tutte le scuole piemontesi par- tecipanti al progetto e con tutti gli scrittori che raccontavano la loro esperienza. Numerosi commenti e frasi significative sono state pronunci- ate: Emanuela Carbè, istituto enogastronomico: “I libri sono una bomba a mano per fare una guerra di parole.” Cristiano Gavina, studenti carcerati e ragazze madri: “ Il rimor- so di non aver parlato un’ultima volta a una persona cara.” Mauro Covacich: “Capire qualcosa di me che ancora non so.” Davide Longo, liceo di Asti: “I giovani vedono i libri come ogget- ti lontani, siamo noi ad avere il compito di farli innamorare.” Fabio Geda, istituto di Ivrea: “Le grandi domande della lettera- tura sono le grandi domande della vita.” C’è stata regalata un’esperienza bellissima e ricca di formazi- one culturale. Adotta uno scrittore è un progetto nato nel 2003 con il fine di avvicinare i ragazzi degli istituti superiori al mondo della let- teratura e della scrittura, cercando di far scaturire in loro una nuova passione: i libri. Sono stati adottati 217 scrittori in 216 istituti e più di 84.000 ragazzi sono entrati gratuitamente al salone del libro in 10 anni. These floors have seen us fall, they’ve picked us up in times of failure and stress. The walls of this school have always been there for us to lean on when in need of support. And how many times have we looked up at the ceiling hoping for inspiration? Probably the same number of times we’ve written math for- mulas on our desks. There have been times when we would dread waking up early in the morning to go to school, but not only. Many other times, we couldn’t wait to walk through the classroom door and see our classmates. Classmates, more like “life-mates” for the past 5 years, we could call them “stress-mates”, “joy-mates”, “test-mates”, “homework-mates”, “trouble-mates” and a mil- lion other names. As a matter of fact, classmates are like fam- ily, you don’t get to choose them, really. You are forced to live 6 hours a day for 9 months sitting next to them, no matter what. Nothing can compare to this type of bonding, for it is a very special and unique one. Memories have been sealed in our minds, and whether we will see our classmates once the ma- turità is over or not, no one will take those precious moments away. School trips have always been the best, breathtaking locations for a life-changing cultural experience in company of teach- ers and peers. What can be added? I wish we could have had more, of course. Five years have passed since we first walked the halls of the S.I.E.S. “A. Spinelli”. Here, we have learned to cope with rises and falls, also known as “ups and downs”. Because ultimately, that’s what life is all about, from what they tell us. Of course, we don’t know yet for sure, because this “goodbye” is where our lives outside High School really begin. LOOKING FORWARD I understand that being asked to write this article, being a final year student and on top of that having belonged to the news- paper crew since its’ creation, is a perfectly sound and rea- sonable request. Nonetheless I wasn’t and still am not entirely convinced that I should be do- ing so, seeing as I wouldn’t say I’m the best at con- veying romanti- cisms typical to those associ- ated with leaving school. Because the truth is, when I think about my school “era” ending, the primary feeling I ex- perience is relief. At this very moment I can tell you with confi- dence that I am absolutely ready to move onto the next stage in my life, impatient to get it over with and leave, forever. Of course, I do realize that these feelings are due to the im- mense stress that the current work overload is causing, what with the presence of final tests, oral examinations and the im- pending ‘dark age’, ergo the period between the end of school and the beginning of exams, where not only I but all will most likely drown in studies and tesina-making. Though one must analyse the more profound reason as to why it is that I’m so eager to leave. The reason for this is, natu- rally, because I have been prepared, not just by myself but by the school. This school, which has taught me so much and has helped me mature, guiding me towards the best possible future. In fact, I am ready – though I’d like to underline that ‘ready’ does not exclude ‘alarmed’ – to face the “real world”, to be an adult and make those all important choices that will possibly determine the rest of my life. On Wednesday the 21st, some students from our school went to Bardonecchia. There they attended
the ‘Stage di Matematica”. This consists in a three-day experience in which each class joins other students from their own year to learn some more about maths. I also think that it is a way to get to know students from all over Turin, but manly a way to get to know your own schoolmates that maybe before you didn’t know at all. Each year had a theme on which to work: first years men’s brilliant ideas, second years infinite, third years cryptography and fourth years geodesic. During work hours, students worked in groups. These were made by girls and boys usually from different
schools. Work-ing in groups is a great way to make what needs to be done even more interesting. In our groups we shared our ideas on various questions written down on a binder that the teachers gave us, trying to find the answer and to un-derstand why certain things occurred. If anyone needed help, teachers from all the schools participating and some from the Mathesis team were there to help and to explain.We must also add that the food was good and that there were plenty of things to do: other than the gym and a room with table football, there were a couple of con-ferences on some peculiar aspects of maths. One was about the Fibonacci number. Some students from uni-versity were there too and they came up with 5 challeng-ing problems to solve.At the end of the three days, each year had a compe-tition, called Treasure Hunt. This isn’t properly going around the Villaggio Olimpico looking for clues, but rath-er seeking the answer to a math problem regarding what was done during the stage. After this the award giving ceremony took place. All treasure hunt winners and the problems solvers were given something: books, spin-ning tops, soap bubbles and many other prizes.We came back having learned new things and interest-ing facts on this subject and having made new friends. Obviously three days is almost nothing, but this is an in-terest that can go on for a lifetime. - IRENE POGGIOLINI 1E
VII edizione del Chinese Bridge
Una semplice descrizione degli eventi non renderebbe certamente giustizia a quella che è stata la selezione
nazionale della settimana edizione del concorso Chine-se Bridge, che ogni anno coinvolge studenti delle scuole provenienti da tutto il mondo e mira a un sempre mag-giore coinvolgimento dei giovani nel mondo della lingua e cultura cinesi. Ed è proprio a Torino, all’interno dell’Aula Magna del Palazzo del Rettorato, che si sono svolte le selezioni na-zionali, durante le quali trentasei studenti, arrivati da di-ciotto diverse scuole italiane, si sono sfidati per poter ac-cedere alla finale che si terrà a Pechino. Ma,nuovamente, sarebbe del tutto superfluo soffermarsi su chi abbia vin-to o meno o in che posizione l’uno o l’altro si siano classi-ficato. Ritengo al contrario essenziale parlare della frase pronunciata nel discorso di apertura e che sicuramen-te descrive al meglio questa giornata: «Si tratta di un evento di amicizia». Potrebbe suonare banale, una delle classiche frasi di repertorio che vengono rispolverate ogni volta, in occasione di una competizione, ma posso testimoniare la sua effettiva veridicità e posso affermare di non aver mai visto dei “rivali” andare così d’accordo. Ricordo ancora con un sorriso un momento di pausa nel pomeriggio, durante il quale un gruppo, all’inizio piccolo, ma divenuto ben presto molto numeroso, coinvolgendo quasi tutti i concorrenti e anche ragazzi del pubblico, far partire un’improvvisata jam session. Tra strumenti con-divisi e canzoni cantate con entusiasmo, sono trascor-
si forse i momenti più belli e significativi della giornata, che hanno reso reale la frase pronunciata nel discorso di apertura alla quale all’inizio, addirittura, non avevo dato alcun peso, ma mi sono ovviamente dovuta ricredere. In conclusione, non posso che esprimere un giudizio positivo su questa giornata, che è stata capace di tra-smettermi grandi emozioni. Colgo inoltre l’occasione per complimentarmi con tutti i concorrenti per l’immen-so lavoro svolto e per i risultati raggiunti. In particolar modo, se mi è concessa un po’ di parzialità, faccio i com-plimenti ai nostri due studenti, Sofia Coretti e Simone Miglietta, che ci hanno certamente resi fieri di essere studenti dello Spinelli. E come dice un proverbio cinese: «Chi torna da un viaggio non è mai la stessa persona che è partita», poiché certamente il oro è stato un “viaggio” importante e non privo di difficoltà, ma ciò mi porta a rinnovare ancora una volta i miei complimenti. RITORNO ALLA PREISTORIAUN POMERIGGIO INSIEME AI DINOSAURIEntrai ad una mostra di dinosauri. Non sapevo che cosa mi aspettasse lì in un cor-tile vasto, vasto. GROOOAMM!! all'improvviso questa specie di ruggito mi fece tra-salire. Non mi sono mai sentito così emozionato ed impaurito allo stesso tempo. Ambientata dove una volta c'era lo zoo, vicino alla biblioteca Geisser, mi fece im-maginare di ritrovarmi nella preistoria. Vidi tanti dinosauri: un Branchiosauro con collo e coda lunghissimi, un triceratopo, ed un dinosauro più lungo che alto.Dopo vidi uova di Iguanodonte, ed uno che al suo interno mostrava un cucciolo di dinosauro carnivoro.La mostra era bellissima, i dinosauri sembravano veri, disposti in mezzo a tanti verdi alberi: ruggivano, respiravano e si muovevano. Erasmus Year.A dream, an experience, a reality.Carolina Lucchinelli (3B) at the end of June will leave Italy for a year and stay in another place far from here. She has decided to do one year in a foreign country, a very constructive but also amusing and exciting project.
Journalist: “At the beginning how did this idea- to live abroad for one year - come to you? ”
Carolina: “Obviously I have always wanted to meet pe-ople, see new places and cultures but also.....I saw that she had really changed. ....and thanks to all the difficul-ties that she went through, she matured.”
Journalist: What is your destination?”
Carolina: “ Mossoro, Brazil.”
Journalist: “Will you stay in a family or college? ”
Carolina: “In a family.”
Journalist: “What are the aims that ...that you would like to reach?”
Carolina: “Try to understand a very different culture in all its peculiarities that is very different from mine.”
Journalist: “ What are you feeling, knowing that you will not see your family or friends for a whole year? ”
Carolina: “People always tell me that when an emotion is real it will live on forever. A year away from home could help understand what is really important in life and what is instead unnecessary. I’m afraid??..sorry to not see my friends but this is something I must do for myself.”

EXPO DI MILANOGUARDA QUELLO CHE MANGI!
La prima esposizione universale venne istituita a Lon-dra nel 1851 nel Crystal Palace di Hyde Park ed è co-
nosciuta anche come Great Exhibition. È da quel momento che l’arte ed altri aspetti della no-stra società vengono messi in risalto organizzando delle esposizioni, ormai non più conosciute come Universali, ma solamente come Expo.Caratterizzate da regole precise, l’Expo viene organiz-zato solamente una volta ogni cinque anni in differenti parti del mondo: l’abbiamo avuta a Budapest, a Parigi a Bruxelles, ed in tanti altri posti, ma adesso è il momento di vederne una da vicino. Expo Milano 2015, ecco quello che più di 20 milioni di
visitatori sono in attesa di vedere. Milano ci mostrerà un nuovo concetto di esposizione, pieno di innovazioni e di nuove caratteristiche. Ma con-tinua, come quelle precedenti, a ruotare attorno ad un tema: “NUTRIRE IL PIANETA, ENERGIA PER LA VITA”. Un milione di metri quadri di spazio per oltre 130 milioni di partecipanti, e l’ alimentazione sarà il nostro tema di discussione: perché creare una barriera? Perché creare due mondi? Un mondo che produce OGM ed un mon-do che muore di fame? Sarà questo che l’expo di Milano tenterà di capire. Centotrentaquattro giorni per riuscire a capirne il mo-tivo. Ci riuscirà? Non lo sappiamo, ma di sicuro ci sarà impegno da parte di molte persone. Quattro aree dedicate a diversi temi, tutti legati alla nu-trizione. Ma che rapporto ha la nostra alimentazione con la nostra infanzia? E col nostro futuro? Dall’ 1 maggio al 3 ottobre 2015 i quattro padiglioni sono disposti a rispon-dere a tutti i nostri dubbi. Un’altra isolaUn viaggio vero raccontato da un ragaz-zino di 13 anniLorenzo Nguyen ora ha 16 anni. In seconda me-dia, come compito delle vacanze estive, la sua professoressa gli aveva chiesto di scrivere un racconto. Lorenzo ha scelto di raccontare la sto-ria di suo padre. Insieme si sono messi a lavora-re. Il padre raccontava e Lorenzo scriveva...Loi, ragazzo vietnamita di 11 anni, viene imbar-cato su una nave di profughi insieme alla sorella a allo zio per scappare da un futuro senza possi-bilità nella sua madrepatria in guerra civile. Il viaggio dura un mese e mezzo; durante questo tempo, Loi sfiora la morte più di una volta. Infi-ne, lui e i suoi compagni vengono salvati da una nave italiana.Durante l’intervista di martedì, Lorenzo ha detto che ha scritto questo libro per raccontare la storia del Vietnam, ma soprattutto ha voluto sottolineare il fatto che a salvare queste persone siano stati italiani. È vero che il nostro paese è toccato dalla crisi e sicuramente è meno importante e ricco di altri, ma siamo stati noi ad attraversare tre mari per andare a salvare adulti, anziani e giovani in cerca di un futuro migliore. Nel libro sono presenti immagini, costituite da foto completate da acquarelli. Questi rappresentano i pensieri di Lorenzo che, curioso, cerca di completare le immagini reali, che non rappresentano mai quindi un soggetto intero, ma solo una parte di esso. Così le immagini completano le parole.Alla fine della conferenza abbiamo letto alcuni passi del libro. Mi è piaciuta la semplicità delle parole usate: anche se la vicenda è narrata in terza persona, sembra quasi che siano le espressioni che avrebbe potuto usare Loi. Quello che, però, mi ha colpito di più è l’interesse di Loi verso il mondo e la natura: durante il viaggio Loi osserva e cerca di capire. Questa caratteristica è tipica dei bambini, ma credo che se avessimo guardato tutti il mondo attorno a noi, e se avessimo tutti cercato di capire, Loi non sarebbe dovuto neanche partire. - IRENE POGGIOLINI 1E
