quando si puo` parlare.Non prendertela con gli altri; se hai un problema

parla con la professoressa.Non disprezzare la nostra aula: getta la spazzatura

nel cestino, non scrivere sui banchi, sulle pareti o sui poster.

Il Bagnoa) As per administration and as a means to

keep the bathroom disruption to a minimum—the bathroom procedures are as follows:

b) Please use the Italian when asking to go “posso andare al bagno per favore?”

c) Then please sign out on the sheet provided and take the pass with you. You do not need to sign back in but you must return the pass to its location to ensure that it does not get lost.

Day to day routines“Late crate”—you will be able to submit your late

assignments in the file cabinet in the back.“back work”—if I do not get a chance to give handouts back

to you due to time constraints you will be able to pick those up in the tray labeled according to your level.

IF you are absent---go to the folder with your level and period on it and retrieve your handout (it should have your name on it and period). BUT you should always check the website first!!

Absent notes—it is your responsibility to show me your absent pass (blue). If I do not see a blue pass I will assume you were absent because you were cutting.

Books—I do not handout out books to students (if you need one come and see me) But notice where they are they need to be put back in the same spot.

Informazioni utili: Compiti—a)Homework is not given every night. But you

should expect to have homework at least 2-3 times a week.

b)At times there will be long-term assignments given that are multi-tiered (with different and sometimes long-term due dates).

c)LATE WORK: I do accept late work BUT any late work must be placed in the “LATE CRATE” by the Friday of the week that the assignment was due, (not shown to the teacher): the paper must have your name, date and name of the assignment.

At some point soon you and your classmates will be enrolled in a program that will give you updates via your phone—through your calendar.

e)All homework unless specified have a point designation: sentences 10pts, compositions 20pts, short activities 5pts, crosswords/wordsearches 5pts. Etc.

Quizzes and Tests:a) Quizzes are much more common than tests, you

can expect several quizzes for each topic. Tests are much more infrequent.

b) Quizzes can be anywhere from 20-60 points. Tests are usually 100 pts.

c) I allow quiz corrections but NOT test corrections.d) There are specific guidelines on how to complete

quiz corrections (which you will receive on a separate sheet of paper). They are typically due within a week of when the original quizzes are returned to you- unless specified.

e) Quiz corrections allow you to receive up to half of the points you are missing: if the quiz was worth 50 points and you got a 40/50. You can get up to 5 points added on with good corrections= so you had an 80% you can get a 90%.

Plagiarizing Copying other people’s work is NOT acceptable!Not only does it ruin your chances of learning

the language but it will hurt your grade as well.Anyone can be tempted to get “help” so you

will receive a warning—after that you will notice a significant grade deficiency every time you hand in work that is not your own.

Please remember that you KNOW more than the internet site you got your work from. There are better ways of getting help: dictionaries, useful links on my webpage and teacher.

Extra Helpa) I will most likely be after school everyday

unless I have a pending appointment or meeting.

b) But my designated day for EXTRA HELP is: Tuesday from 1:45-3 in room 344.

c) As the year gets underway, you may also find it helpful to seek out the Learning Center here at RCK or a classmate that can help you (such as a tutor).

Extra Credita) Should be used as an “extra” resource not

as a lifeline. The points given for extra credit assignments are not big enough to save you from a significantly failing grade.

b) On average there are 1 or 2 extra credit assignments per quarter each valued between 5-10 points. Examples: crosswords, word searchers, word jumbles, internet research activities, handouts (given by teacher) etc.

Grading Procedures:a) I use a total points system, which means that all

assignments given are added together to create your total possible points for the quarter. The grades you received on each assignment is also added and then divided by the total possible points: this will give you your score for the quarter.

Example: Total for the quarter (all points of assignments added up)= 350 (quizzes, homework, projects etc.)

Your total number of points for all these assignments was = 300

300 = 86 (.857) 350

Grading continuedb) As a means to get yourself organized and give you an

opportunity to earn extra points; you will receive a GPA sheet at the beginning of each quarter (GPA sheet).

c) This sheet which will be printed on colored paper needs to be kept somewhere safe and must be filled out as the quarter progresses. Each time I give a homework back to you or I go around and check/stamp your work, you need to record it into this sheet.

d) This sheet will allow you to know how you are doing throughout the year.

e) At the end of the quarter I will set up a time/day for you to hand in this sheet to receive extra credit. PARTIALLY filled out sheets or sheets filled out INCORRECTLY will NOT receive credit.
